International Women’s Day 2009
Poem Competition
The Gender Secretariat is launching a poem competition (download Poem Competition poster) for International Women’s Day 2009 in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNDP) . The theme of the poem will be: Fanm ek zonm zwen ansanm pou aret vyolans kont fanm.
This theme has been directly based on the international theme set by the United Nations for International Women’s Day 2009: Women and Men United to End Violence against Women.

The competition invites women, men, girls and boys residing in Seychelles to ponder the theme and submit a poem in Creole by 30th April 2009 to the ministry. A panel including a representative from the National Arts Council will judge the finalists and winning poems and runner ups will be exhibited at the National Library, as well as published on the media and on the Gender Seychelles website.

The name, age, address and telephone number of each applicant should be attached to all poems and submitted to:

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in the three different age categories:

Prizes Adults (<18 years) Youth (17-13 years) Children (12> years)
First SR 5,000 SR 2,000 SR 500
Second SR 3,000 SR 1,500 SR 300
Third SR 2,000 SR 500 SR 200

Minors (under 18 years) will be asked to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to collect their prize.
