Domestic Violence Situational Analysis Workshops
The Gender Secretariat will be hosting a series of workshops to conduct a situational analysis of current institutional response to domestic violence. The first workshop will take place on Friday 10th October 2008 at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles and will target representatives for the Department of Social Development, Ministry of Education and the civil society.

The second workshop will comprise of stakeholders from the Department of Health and the third workshop on Law Enforcement agencies.

Following the data collection process, a validation workshop will be organised to verify all the findings and recommendations from the previous three workshops.

These workshops are part of a study outlined as one of the targets in the National Strategy on Domestic Violence. The aim of this study is to map out the roles and responsibilities of all the agencies that are involved with domestic violence in some way or another.

The workshops will bring together a large group of technical experts from the multitude of service providers, to collect and analyse vital information on best practice and the experiences of staff from all the regional/district offices.

Findings from situational analysis will then be fed into other targets outlined in the National Strategy on Domestic Violence , namely the development and review of the Domestic Violence Operational Guidelines for all service providers. This will help to enable an integrated response of existing institutions to domestic violence by, maximising resources, minimising overlap and duplication of efforts, to ensure that all the needs of those affected by domestic violence are met effectively and efficiently.
